Kaba’s innovative SLX sliding door operator offers the flexibility of a wide selection of functions allowing access to be optimised to match pedestrian traffic. When combined with our PSX slim profile doors, the SLX door system offers the basis for customised automatic door operation. Electronic operating systems are linked via a communications bus (CAN Bus). This system is unique to the Kaba SLX and is a computer network enabling all components to communicate with the processor 50 times a second. This makes the door extremely safe, enabling the processor to detect faults immediately, ensuring extremely quick fault recognition and remedy. A BEDIX wireless control unit makes operation simple and maintenance easy. The SLX is ideal for use in combination with standard doors from other suppliers.

SLX has enabled Kaba to introduce the industry unique SLX-V bi-parting fire protection doors which are tested and approved to exceed British Standard BS476 part 22:1987, European Standard BSEN 1634-1:2000 and rigorous Swiss testing standards. The doors resist flames and provide a thermal shield for more than 30 minutes. In addition they help reduce the propagation of smoke. All SLX systems offer a breakout function with the SLX-V breakout offering transformation into manually operated swing doors in the event of a fire providing an open escape route for rapid evacuation. In this operating mode the doors close reinstating the fire screen.

The intelligent SLX system has also allowed Kaba to take innovation to another level, recently launching the technologically advanced Media Door.

The Media Door not only offers all the benefits and convenience of an automatic door, but is an excellent promotional tool. Installed in an entrance, the new door combines the already proven SLX system with flat screen technology to produce an extremely effective communication tool, targeting customers at their point of entry as well as drawing in passing trade.

The new system incorporates flat screens mounted in to the fixed side panels providing an advertising platform that can be individually designed and changed as required. Messages will always be up-todate and individually communicated and can serve to consolidate and even reinforce purchasing intensions and behaviors.
